About Us

This year we are celebrating 35 years of the existence of a famous brand name salami Campesino. In 1969 the Campesino brand salami was launched, and it was the beginning of many milestones in the company’s history. What is more important, we also celebrate 35 years of the existence of a family business. It is a family business that the original founder, Mr. Siegfried Vieluf, started in a small store front in the Washington Heights area of New York City. When he started the business, Lutzi and Heinz, his children were still in school. Today, they are committed to continue the tradition that has been successful for the last 35 years.“La Tradición de Calidad” is not only our slogan, but it is our reason for being in business. The tradition of manufacturing quality products and providing excellence service has made us able to reach this milestone.

Our experience has shown that the utilization of proper quality controls, adding the finest ingredients, and special attention to the manufacturing process is our formula for providing our consumers the best food products in the marketplace. At the same we need to be able to deliver our products fresh and prompt to the marketplace. With timely, weekly deliveries with most of the orders being delivered the next day, and some even being delivered the same day, this type of service will assured that our consumers will buy the freshest product available.

Launching any new product requires great effort and determination. This is especially true for the food industry. Our history does not differ from that of other products that have later become pre-eminent in the marketplace. In the 1980's we developed several new sausages with unique flavors Checo, Villa Mella and Cibao Longaniza. In addition, a gourmet salami of supreme quality, Induveca, the first of its kind available in the United States, was also introduced. In the 1990's we continued to expand our consumer base with the introduction of the first Hispanic style ham salami named, Don Pedro Jamonada, and the first all turkey salami, Pavolami. Jamoneta Campesino, the office employees’ favorite, was also introduced to build on the brand name Campesino brand. We also perceived the need to cater the Mexican consumers with the highest quality Chorizo and meat products, thus the introduction of the VER-MEX brand.

This diversification of food products motivated us to relocate to a new plant where we are able to manufacture these new brands in larger quantities. Our modern plant opened in 1994 where we are currently at 630 Saint Ann's Avenue, Bronx, New York.

As we enter into the 21st century, we continue to meet the needs of our consumers with another first, Salami Salapeño, a fully cooked salami spiced with jalapeños. It won the award from the Eastern Perishable & Products Association 2003 Showcase as best New Deli Item. More recently we just introduced our newest salami, Salami Del Pueblo, our first salami made mostly with chicken.

We, the staff of Cibao Meat Products, are proud of what we do and grateful to our consumers for their acceptance of our products.

We have committed ourselves to the improvement of our Hispanic Community through the sponsorship of several assistance programs and participation in the economic development of our neighborhood.
