Dominican Stew with Jamonada Don Pedro

Ingredients

  • 1 Don Pedro Jamonada, diced
  • 1 Red onion, chopped
  • 1/2 Green bell pepper, chopped
  • 2 Garlic cloves, crushed
  • 2 Tbsp oil
  • 1 Tbsp tomato paste
  • 1/2 Cup tomato sauce
  • 1/2 Cup water
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Dried oregano, to taste
  • Fresh chopped cilantro (optional)

Instructions

  1. Heat the oil in a skillet over medium heat. Sauté the onion, bell pepper, and garlic until fragrant.
  2. Add the tomato paste and tomato sauce, mix well, and cook for 2–3 minutes to concentrate the flavor.
  3. Add the Don Pedro Jamonada and sauté for a few minutes until lightly browned.
  4. Pour in the water and season with salt, pepper, and oregano. Simmer over medium-low heat for 8–10 minutes, until the stew thickens and flavors are well combined.
  5. Remove from heat and finish with fresh cilantro, if desired.
  6. Serve hot with white rice, beans, or root vegetables.
